Small Steps, Big Progress
Bringing Vision to Life
Intro
I hope this email finds you well. My name is Tommy and I decided to make drastic changes to my lifestyle to improve my current situation and become the person I always envisioned I would be.
Each email in this series will contain actionable items that you can follow step by step as a simple guide on your journey to self-improvement.
This newsletter will read like a blog at times, but I feel it’s the right platform to share the information with everyone in hopes you all will benefit from the information and advice I provide.
Following up on Week 1
If you have followed the actionable items from the first few newsletters, you have written down your vision for the future and started to get your mind and body in the shape they need to be in to continue along this journey and reach all of your goals.
How are you feeling at this point?
Better? That is fantastic, let’s keep this thing going and make some moves!
Worse? Sometimes, it simply takes more time to start to change your mind and body, especially if you have let drugs or alcohol take hold of your life. Continue to practice the actionable items from the first two newsletters until you are ready to move on. It’s ok!
I’m adjusting the release time of my email newsletters to one per week instead of every day. I feel that each of the actionable items I send in the newsletter should be practiced daily, but getting into the habit over a week is more appropriate than learning something new every day.
I write more frequently on X (Twitter) which you can access below if you need more frequent advice and contact. I’ve also listed my blog link below which essentially contains the same info as the newsletter, but in blog format.
Let’s get this.
Blog:
Moving Towards Success
It’s time to decide HOW you are going to live out your vision for yourself that you wrote down in week one. You know what you want to be, you have envisioned what that will look like, and you have dreamed about this for a long time.
It’s about to happen, but it won’t be easy and it will take determination and hard work. I’ve said this from the beginning.
Do you see yourself as a super successful person in a corporate business?
Do you see yourself as a person who has a large happy family?
Does your vision include being tucked away in the woods living by yourself as a minimalist escaping the rat race?
Did you start your own company and it’s helped you obtain all of the things you wanted in life by being your own boss?
Are you seeing yourself as someone who is finally clean from drugs and alcohol and living very contently with a small family and a blue-collar job?
Every….single….one of these is obtainable and just within your reach. Millions of people live out the dream and lifestyle you are imagining every day and they are no better than you.
They simply just follow the steps necessary and create the habits needed to get there.
You are well on your way.
Check out the action items below for this week to keep the journey moving forward.
Small Steps, Big Progress
Even though it just feels like the start, you are already so much further along than most have made it.
Here are your actionable items for the week to keep progressing, step by step:
1) Do your research and know where you currently stand. Here is a real-life example of this sent from one of my readers:
“My vision is to become the lead marketing executive for a major corporation. I am 25 years old, have a high school diploma, no degree, and have been working call center jobs selling internet services for the past 5 years.”
Find out exactly what the required pre-qualifications you need by googling marketing executive. Here is one I found:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
Five to ten years in senior leadership roles in executing digital marketing strategies, with positions of increasing responsibility and accountability, managing direct report teams along with brand strategy, media, creative, video, digital, and social media.
Experience in direct sales.
You can think creatively, strategically, and analytically with a focus on problem-solving and results-oriented decision-making.
You have a proven track record of managing an annual marketing budget.
You have proven expertise as an innovative thought leader with a clear vision to drive the marketing strategy and complete complex projects.
You're a mentor and coach that holds your team accountable for delivering results.
You have exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
You gain buy-in from your internal and external stakeholders for your ability to articulate the "Why" in an inspiring and digestible format.
You work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
You can execute and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
You're great at building and maintaining relationships and fostering an environment of mutual respect, understanding, and trust through high ethical standards and unwavering personal integrity.
Your vision may be completely different, but the same action item applies. Googling and using YouTube are the two number one ways to find out exactly what will be needed to accomplish your goal and now you begin to take action towards making it happen.
2) Take one step towards reaching that goal. Let’s use our marketing executive example. Break that list of requirements down a bit and it really boils down to two things: getting a degree in marketing and getting a leadership position within the marketing department.
The first step my reader will need to take today is to begin to look at classes to take to earn their bachelor’s degree. Since they work for a call center, most large companies that operate these types of businesses offer education assistance. Start here by asking your manager and HR department what types of education assistance they provide. If there is none, reach out to the school of your choice and ask about the courses they offer in the marketing field and education assistance or student loan assistance.
3) Do not stop for the day until this task is fully accomplished. This means you have fully researched your vision and taken an actionable step towards accomplishing it (ie. submitting your school application, enrolling in the class, applying for the leadership position, etc.)
4) Write down exactly what you did and what steps are needed the rest of the way to accomplish your ultimate goal. Repeat this step day after day until the newsletter hits your inbox next week.
5) Take a deep breath, sit back, and admire yourself and the fact that you have accomplished one of the biggest steps in your journey.
I’m proud of you.
Until Next Time…
I hope that you enjoyed this content and will return and read my next email. We are still at the beginning of this journey, the money, relationship, career, overcoming addiction, and other advice are soon to come.
I have so much more to share and will always provide you with direct, actionable tips that helped me and will help you find the joy in life that you have been seeking.
Until we meet again.
Cheers.
-Tommy
